I'm disappointed that my experience of Neighborhood Tire Pros is so different than other's. I bought a used car and the previous owner had been taking the vehicle to Neighborhood Tire Pros. Even though it was clear across the city for me, I thought it would be a good idea to continue bringing the car to them. My experience thus far has incorrect and expensive diagnosis and changing prices. For example, I was experiencing some brake squeaking which I figured was brake pads. But Neighborhood's diagnosis said the squeaking was a CV axle, specifically saying the brakes were fine, with a replacement cost quoted of $613, which I could not afford at the time. When I called back a few days later after payday, the quote had gone up to $750, so I took it to another mechanic, who swore it was the brake pads but noted that the CV Axle was also due for replacement. He replaced it for me for $325. As he predicted, I was still having squeaking brakes. I took it back to Neighborhood - they did another inspection and this time said I needed strut replacement to the tune of $1,032. I swore to the tech it was the brakes, and he adamantly disagreed. I didn't understand why the diagnosis for the same problem would've changed from tech to tech with only a few weeks difference. In any case, I took it to the other mechanic, he replaced the brake pads for a couple of hundred, showed me the worn brake pads, and I was good to go. With an older vehicle, I'm sure there's a lot I could be replacing. I need a mechanic to tell me when something is urgent, and that diagnosis should be accurate, especially when it's something as simple as brake pads. Neighborhood Tire has been good with tires and I'll continue to bring my vehicle for the tires since those are under warranty. I wish I could trust them for other work. Notably I emailed this to them several months ago and never heard back. 🤷🏻♂️ Be sure to sort reviews by lowest before you pay for a big repair - sometimes you can't trust negative reviews, but this kind of mis-diagnosis seems common. Maybe they just need a new brake tech who knows.
John, we are sorry to hear of your negative experience. During your inspection, we did not see your brakes as an issue. Due to the age and mileage of your vehicle, we recommended other services. We apologize for missing your email. Please give us a call at 404-809-3975 to talk about this issue more in-depth. Thank you.
